About

About Bob Riel

Bob Riel in PatagoniaI’m a freelance writer who specializes in travel and cross-cultural topics. My work has appeared in the Arizona Daily Star, Matador Trips, Trazzler, Examiner, Relocation Journal and other print and online publications. I also have a background in cross-cultural consulting and have written more than 70 country-specific manuals for use in corporate trainings.

I began my career as a journalist for a daily newspaper in Rhode Island and I have a master’s degree in political science from Boston College. So in another life I could have ended up as a political journalist, but I couldn’t get away from travel once it got into my blood. I’ve traveled to 45 countries on six continents and to 48 U.S. states. You can read more about these travels on my Travels in the Riel World blog.
